Objectives and Outcomes:
The Aboriginal Advocacy & Advice Workshops are designed to support families and strengthen communities by providing culturally safe, practical guidance and advocacy. Our objective is to empower Aboriginal parents, carers, and kinship networks with the tools and knowledge to navigate the child protection system, uphold their rights, and foster healing within community.
By delivering targeted workshops and ongoing support, we aim to achieve the following outcomes:
Increase understanding of the child protection system . Equip families with clear, accessible information on how the system works, demystifying processes and reducing barriers to engagement.
Empower parents and carers with rights-based knowledge.
Ensure participants are fully informed about their rights and responsibilities, enabling them to advocate effectively for their children and families.
Promote kinship care, guardianship, and restoration
Support pathways that keep children connected to family, culture, and community, and provide guidance on legal processes such as Section 90 applications and orders.
Strengthen advocacy and community support networks
Facilitate ongoing follow-up and access to community services, so that families are supported beyond the workshop environment.
