Program Models and Activities:

At Oyster Tribe Aboriginal Corporation, we are dedicated to supporting families and strengthening communities through practical, culturally grounded advocacy and advice. Our Aboriginal Advocacy & Advice Workshops stand as a cornerstone initiative—delivered in partnership with the Oyster Care Foundation and the Aboriginal Legal Service, and funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.

Dubbo School Holiday Program

Core Objective:

To engage, empower, and support Dubbo region youth by providing safe, inclusive, and culturally enriching school holiday activities that promote physical wellbeing, social connection, and personal development. The program aims to foster a sense of belonging, build life skills, and strengthen community ties, with a particular focus on accessibility for Aboriginal and vulnerable young people.

Program Focus Area:

  • Physical Activity & Sport:
    • 3-on-3 OzTag, basketball, skatepark sessions, soccer clinics, and sports days to promote health and teamwork.
  • Cultural Engagement:
    • Aboriginal cultural practice, Wiradjuri Park experiences, and community events fostering cultural pride and understanding.
  • Creative & Educational Experiences:
    • 3D theatre, scavenger hunts, movie events, and interactive learning opportunities.
  • Community Connection:
    • Peer-based activities, group outings, and events that build friendships and a sense of belonging.
  • Wellbeing & Support:
    • Safe, supervised environments with transport provided, ensuring accessibility for all youth.
  • Family & Carer Inclusion:
    • Welcoming parents and carers to participate, strengthening family and community ties.

Objectives and Outcomes:

The Dubbo School Holiday Program is designed to engage, empower, and connect young people across the Dubbo region through a diverse range of safe, inclusive, and culturally enriching activities. Our objective is to foster physical wellbeing, social connection, and personal growth, while ensuring accessibility and positive experiences for all participants—especially Aboriginal and vulnerable youth.
By delivering a well-structured calendar of activities with strong community support and supervision, we aim to achieve the following outcomes:

Increase participation in healthy and active lifestyles

Provide opportunities for youth to engage in sports, recreation, and physical activity, promoting health, teamwork, and self-confidence.

Foster cultural pride and community connection

Create culturally safe spaces and experiences—including Aboriginal cultural practice, community events, and peer-based activities—that strengthen identity, belonging, and mutual respect.

Enhance social skills and emotional wellbeing

Encourage positive peer relationships, resilience, and self-esteem through group activities, creative learning, and supportive environments.

Oyster Tribe is committed to providing exceptional support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, empowering them to lead fulfilling and independent lives. Our comprehensive range of services includes Support Employment.

Participants can enjoy a wide range of activities, including:
  • Sports and recreation (OzTag, basketball, soccer clinics, skatepark, swimming)
  • Cultural workshops and community events
  • Creative and educational experiences (theatre, scavenger hunts, movie days)
  • Animal encounters and visits to local attractions
  • Peer-based group activities and wellbeing sessions
No, all core activities are free or low-cost, thanks to the support of our community partners and sponsors. Transport and supervision are provided at no additional charge.
Qualified youth workers and community leaders supervise all activities. We provide safe transport to and from venues, and ensure every event is run in a culturally safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
